Week 9 Waiver Wire Adds

10/29/2018

We have 5 more weeks in our fantasy season and it has seemed to fly by! These next few weeks it will be a good idea to start planning ahead for matchups or bye weeks. Some examples of this are working on getting your handcuffs for your RB and even roster defenses like the Patriots or the Broncos. Setting yourself up for success in the playoffs can help you win championships. Many trade deadlines are approaching, so your window of opportunity is closing. For some people, each week is a must win in order to make the playoffs. You may not have the luxury of holding multiple defenses or QB's. In that case just play week to week to make the best roster you can in order to win. There are a few nice pickups for this week that may help you get there. A quick reminder this is a huge bye week. The Cardinals, Bengals, Colts, Jaguars, Giants, and the Eagles are all on bye. As always my ownership percentage is based off of ESPN and this will include players rostered in under 60% of leagues.

QB:

Ryan Fitzpatrick (6.0%)- Fitzmagic is back! The Buccaneers have named their new starting QB for week 9. He is a must add for me. He came into the game in week 8 and staged an amazing comeback. The Buccaneers did fall short at the end, but he was still on fire. He looks just as good as he did during the beginning of the season. For players who have Winston as their starting QB, Fitzmagic needs to be added.

Baker Mayfield (40.3%)- The Browns have fired both their head coach and their offense coordinator at the start of week 9. It sounded like there was a ton of tension between the two coaches on how the plays should be called. That may have hurt the outlook for various Browns players. It is yet to see if Baker will begin to excel in his rookie year. Even with his down play, Baker is still averaging 19 fantasy ppg since taking over the starting job. He is still a solid streamer with his upcoming matchup.

Derek Carr (15.3%)- Carr had a very surprising game this past Sunday. He had 4 total touchdowns and looked great against the Colts. At one point he had 17 straight completions. I don't think he will be an every week starter, unless it is a 2 QB league. He has some favorable match ups coming up so it's worth a look if you are streaming QB.

RB:

Aaron Jones (48.2%)- I think its finally that time when the Packers begin to feature Aaron Jones. If you held onto him like myself, you should be very excited. Jones was given 12 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown. Ty Montgomery and Jamaal Williams had a combined 6 carries for 15 yards. Jones explodes through the hole as soon as he gets the football. I have been saying it all season long, he is the best back on this team.

Jalen Richard (50.0%) & Doug Martin (51.7%)- I would prioritize Martin in standard leagues and Richard in PPR leagues. Both seemed to find some success this past week. Martin ran the ball 13 times for 72 yards. He looked explosive every time he touched the ball. Richard on the other hand caught 8 passes for 50 yards. I think the Raiders will be down in most of their games, which will give Richard a ton of value going forward. They also have a very favorable fantasy playoff schedule.

Peyton Barber (56.2%)- He has a fairly difficult schedule coming up, in terms of rushing defenses. His volume is what he has going for him. Ronald Jones injured his hamstring and is likely to miss a few weeks. He has had two 80 yard games in his last three games. He also had 19 total carries in week 8. I view him as a flex play going forward.

Ito Smith (32.7%)- He is coming out of a bye this week, so more than likely he is available in your league. This Falcons backfield will continue to be a timeshare. Smith didn't have a great game his last time out, but this is a high powered offense which likes to score. Smith has 7 more redzone carries than Tevin Coleman on the season. He is a nice stash.

Elijah McGuire (4.3%)- He is going to be returning for IR in the coming weeks and is worth a look. The Jets have shown that they do not trust Crowell in an every down role. I believe McGuire will take some of the work that Powell had before he went down. He is a decent add if you are hurting at RB.

Nyheim Hines (39.1%)- Hines is averaging 7.8 yards a carry in his past two games. He has been a nice complement to Marlon Mack recently. He may take a backseat most weeks, but with the difficult schedule the Colts have, they may throw a bit more to Hines. He is downgraded in standard for me.

Josh Adams (0.4%)- He looks like the best runner on this team. The only downside here is that I still think it's going to be a complete running back by committee. Last week, he led the team in rushes and in rushing yards. He took 9 carries for 61 yards. Smallwood and Clement both combined for 12 carries for 30 yards. It shows why the Eagles took him in the Draft. He looks pretty good and may carve out a role as the season progresses.

WR:

Keke Coutee (18.6%)- He has a very favorable rest of season schedule and should be a WR2 once he gets healthy. He is currently injured with a hamstring injury, that may keep him out another week. Once he returns, he will see a huge amount of work. Watson is beginning to perform as he did the previous season and that means there will be a ton of points to go around. He was taking over Will Fuller's job even before Fuller tore his ACL. Adding Coutee could help your team greatly in the near future.

Danny Amendola (46.1%)- Now I doubt he gets another passing touchdown during the season, but if you picked him up and played him last week, you were happy. He is averaging 16 ppg in PPR leagues in the past 3 games. The Dolphins have multiple WR out with injuries. He has seen 24 total targets the past three weeks and will continue to be a nice PPR asset.

Tyrell Williams (25.8%)- It looks like the big-play threat flew under the radar last week while he was on bye. He is still available in just under 75% of leagues. He is going to be a boom-or-bust play each week, but in his last two games he boomed. Rivers has been on fire this season and has really connected with Williams. He is upgraded in standard scoring leagues.

Willie Snead (22.2%)- He is a solid bet for double digit fantasy points every week. He is averaging about 8 targets in the last 5 games. He is getting a ton of work in this offense. He is usually good for about 5 catches for 60 yards each week. This type of consistency will make him a great streamer in PPR leagues.

D.J. Moore (10.4%)- This was a coming out game for Moore. Easily his best game of the year, he had 5 catches for 90 yards. He had a season high in snap %, routes ran, and targets. They may be finally integrating him into the offense. I loved him coming into the season and it looks like he may have some decent late season value. They have a very pass happy schedule moving forward.

Tre'Quan Smith (17.1%)- He had a down game last week but he is still playing a high number of snaps each week. He may be a boom-or-bust play most weeks but in this offense, there is definitely potential. He is filling in the Ted Ginn Jr. role, which has been decent for fantasy in the past. He is a good end of bench stash.

TE:

Jack Doyle (31.9%)- He needs to be added everywhere. In his first game back from injuring his hip, he caught 6 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown. He saw 75% of the snaps in this game, while Ebron fell to a surprising 18%. It looks like he is going to remain the TE to own in this offense. He may still be available, if so go get him.

Vance McDonald (44.0%)- He had a down week but he will still be a nice piece of this offense. He is going to be a great TE streamer at the end of the season and the playoffs. Those games should be very pass heavy and I expect McDonald to be at least somewhat involved. I could see him getting a few touchdowns from weeks 12-16.

Ed Dickson (0.5%)- I talked about him a couple days ago as a guy to watch out for if you were currently streaming TE. In his first game back he caught 2 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. My only concern with him was the 6 routes he ran in that game. I am thinking they may ease him in as the weeks go on. The Seahawks offense finally looks decent and Dickson should be the primary TE pass catcher going forward.

D/ST:

Dallas Cowboys (13.2%)

Kansas City Chiefs (18.0%)

Miami Dolphins (21.5%)

New York Jets (26.8%)
