Week 8 Waiver Wire Adds

10/22/2019

Is this season flying by or what? We are now 8 weeks in and many of us are going to be pushing for that playoff spot in about 5 weeks. Yeah it's really that close. If you are only even if you are 1-6 or 2-5, don't give up. You can still win out the year and make a playoff spot. Last year I barley made it into the playoffs with a 7-6 record and managed to make it to the championship game, losing by only 2 points. Fantasy Football is a crazy game. Just don't be that person who gives up and abandons their roster. No one likes to play with someone who will mess the league up like that. It is never to late to make a push. A few guys on here could help make that late season push with the various bye's and injury's that will continue to happen this season. As always I will use ESPN ownership projections and will add a few guys over the 50% threshold to keep an eye on in case they are available in your league. Good luck to everyone in week 8.

QB:

Jacoby Brissett (49.3%)- I am going back and forth on who to choose as my favorite streaming option as I will personally be making this decisions but as of now I am leaning Brissett. He again threw for multiple touchdowns last week, making week 5 the only game he failed to hit that mark. He actually threw for 4 last week. I will be rolling him out against a Denver team who has been pretty good against opposing QB, I just think Brissett is a great player on a great team.

Kirk Cousins (39%)- Here is the other option I have been trying to decide between. For me I am just a little hesitant on starting Kirk over Brissett at this point. Brissett has a solid floor while we have seen Cousins throw only 10 times in one game. Kirk does have back to back games with 4 plus touchdowns in back to back games and faces a terrible Redskins defense, but what if they just run Dalvin Cook all game long? I still think he is a great streaming option but he carries some risk.

Teddy Bridgewater (21.5%)- Now since I have Lamar Jackson in a good amount of leagues I will be streaming QB in a ton of places. With both of the guys above already gone in a league, I am rolling out Teddy against the Cardinals. He hasn't given us high explosive fantasy games but 250-300 yards and two touchdowns aren't out of the question. The Cardinals have given up the 2nd most fantasy points to opposing QB this year.

Matthew Stafford (48.9%)- He has actually been pretty decent for fantasy football this year. He has played only 2 games this year in which he didn't throw for multiple touchdowns. He gets the Giants this week who hasn't been great this year. Kerryon Johnson should miss this game so the team could rely more on Stafford. I like him to keep it going this week.

RB:

Chase Edmonds (31.7%)- If you are like me and have already picked this guy up since I have David Johnson on my team, your doing it right. Once it gets to the back end of the season handcuffs can be very important. If you by some chance missed last week, the Cardinals decided to make David Johnson active but only play him 3 snaps. Edmonds was fantastic in relief, scoring 3 touchdowns. The team has also brought in 2 other backs to work out for them, which makes me feel there is something going on with Johnson that we don't know about. If I owned DJ and Edmonds is on the waiver wire I would 100% use the number 1 waiver claim on him. If not I would give it a hard thought on whether to use it or not. It could be a huge gamble that pays off.

Derrius Guice (29.4%)- I went ahead and acquired Guice wherever I could after news broke that he should be back at practice here soon. He is still out there in a ton of leagues and needs to be added. It is even better if your team has an open IR spot. Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson are banged up and could miss a few weeks. Once Guice returns I think it will be his backfield to lose.

TY Johnson (1.6%)- As I said above in the Stafford section, I think Kerryon Johnson is set to miss this weeks game. I believe TY is going to be the one who takes over the majority of touches in his place. It also doesn't hurt that they play the Giants, who has allowed the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing RB. He is a great streamer this week if you are looking for a RB.

Mark Walton (4.3%)- It's a gross pickup but he is getting the majority of the touches for that team. There is still the chance that Kenyan Drake is also traded before the trade deadline. It isn't a great matchup against the Steelers but he is really one of the only RB in this ownership percentage who is actually getting double digit touches.

Handcuffs- Make sure to begin getting the handcuffs for your top RB's. Don't wait until it is to late and you are fighting the rest of your league to get a player. Do it early and have that peace of mind.

Notable Add: Jamaal Williams (55.6%)

WR:

Corey Davis (44%)- It looks like Ryan Tannehill is going to be a servicable QB for this Titans team. With that, Davis should actually start to show some success. Last week he was able to get 80 yards and a score. If Tannehill continues to play like he did against the Chargers, Davis could continually produce low end WR2 numbers.

Mohamed Sanu (49.1%)- If you have been reading my stuff all year you know I am a huge Sanu guy. I liked him over Ridley this year due to various reasons. Now he has been traded to the Patriots and could have some nice trade value if your able to get him. I personally think this team has way too many pass options and he could fail to get that 10 point or so floor we are used to getting in PPR leagues. I could be wrong though because of Josh Gordon's injury and how K'Neal Harry plays when he returns. With the Patriots it is always a wait and see game.

Kenny Stills (15.4%)/Keke Coutee (22.2%)- Will Fuller is set to miss some significant time and I believe Stills will be the bigger beneficiary over Coutee. I think both guys need to be picked up this week but I would prioritize Stills. The Texans have an explosive offense and there will be a ton of value moving forward with these two guys while Fuller is sidelined.

Cole Beasley (27.8%)- I'm not going to in depth here as he has been on my pickups list for what feels like the whole season. If your need a plug and play guy go get Beasley. The Bills get the Eagles defense who can't seem to stop the pass.

Notable Adds- John Brown (66.9%), Jamison Crowder (64.7%)

TE:

Eric Ebron (39.2%)- Along with Lamar Jackson, I also have a lot of shares of Mark Andrews this year. I will be getting Ebron in a few leagues where I can't find Jimmy Graham. It isn't a great matchup for him but he showed some signs of life last week. He admittedly said he was in a funk and now looks to have gotten out of it.

Chris Herndon (19.8%)- Is your TE on a bye next week? Just like mine is, I will be stashing Herndon in hopes he will be able to play by week 9. There isn't much risk here with that move. Worst case you find another streaming TE who I will outline next week. I think better days are ahead for the Jets. In week 9 the Jets get the struggling Miami Dolphins.

Mike Gesicki (1.2%)- He is one of my favorite bottom of the barrel streams for this week. He has 9 catches over the last 2 games and seems to be getting some more work. I liked him as a sleeper going into this year, but this team has just been terrible. If you need a dart throw this week, keep him in your considerations. The Steelers have allowed the 4th most fantasy points per game to opposing TE this year.

Notable Add: Jimmy Graham (64.4%)

DEF:

Steelers (34.4%)

Seahawks (46%)

Colts (16.6%)

Texans (29.4%)
