Week 10 Waiver Wire Pickups

11/05/2019

We are entering the week that has the most teams on a bye. A lot of fantasy teams will be scrambling for players as the week progresses. I personally think this is one of the bigger weeks for waivers not because there is a ton of great options but for teams that are looking to hold onto a playoff spot, it is now getting crunch time to make sure you win out these few weeks. If you are lucky enough to not have to worry about the bye week conundrum that is week 10, go get your RB handcuffs. They have much more upside than you WR5 or your backup QB. You also should look ahead at next week and see who you may need. Get them early so your not hoping you win them on waivers. Another strategy that I could see playing out well this week is playing keep away from your opponent. If you see they need a certain position try to take the best available away from them on waivers, or even after waivers clear. I did get caught up with work today, which is why this is coming out so late so I apologize in advance for being short on the waiver pickup commentary. As always I will be using ESPN ownership projections. Good luck in week 10 and don't forget to check who was dropped tomorrow, I think a ton of great pickups should become available.

QB:

Daniel Jones (32.8%)- He has shown he can be a serviceable streamer in the right matchup. This week he gets the Jets who just allowed Ryan Fitzpatrick to throw for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns. He is a great streamer this week if you have a QB on a bye.

Jimmy Garoppolo (33.6%)- He is a close second to Daniel Jones this week after Jimmy lit up Thursday night football with 4 touchdowns. My only worry here is my gut is telling me this could be a low scoring game. Hopefully I am wrong but it is a nice matchup against the Seahawks who have given up the 11th most fantasy points per game to opposing QB.

Ryan Tannehill (8.0%)- If Patrick Mahomes plays this week I actually give Tannehill a boost. It would cause the Titans to throw to keep up. Tannehill has been pretty good since taking over the starting job and I think that could continue this week.

Sam Darnold (16.5%)- I know its a gross play but if you are out of options, I would be ok rolling out Darnold this week. The Giants defense isn't great by any means and I would not be surprised to see Darnold throw for 240-250 yards and 2 touchdowns

Notable Add: Jacoby Brissett (56.6%) * May not play, check injury updates as week goes on.

RB:

Derrius Guice (32.6%)- He is my top add only if you don't need to pickup a RB for this week. He should be returning next week and I believe will get the starting role thereafter. Hopefully you were able to scoop him up the last few weeks and put him in a IR spot.

Ronald Jones (38.1%)- Now if you do need a RB for this week go get Jones. Arians today said that Jones deserves more work and will be the teams starting RB. It is a great matchup this week against the Cardinals. If Jones gets just a bit more targets he should be a great play this week. He also saw 18 carries in week 9.

Kalen Ballage (8.8%)- With Mark Walton suspended the next 4 games, the team will look to Ballage and possibly Myles Gaskin moving forward. I will go over Gaskin later in this article. It's a heavy bye week and you may need a RB to play this week and Ballage will get goal line work at the least.

Trey Edmunds (1.6%)- If James Conner misses again this week, Edmunds will get his share of touches. He led the team last week in carries and rushing yards, while Jaylen Samuels was in for all of the passing work. Here is another guy I think you should be able to play this week if need be. It does depend on Conner's health.

Bilal Powell (0.2%)- It is yet to see if Le'Veon Bell has a significant injury which would lead him to missing games. I did see a report saying he is "good", but it never hurts to get ahead of the curve just in case. If he misses this weeks game, I expect Powell to be the one who leads the Rb group in touches.

Myles Gaskin (0.1%)- I see him as a stash for this week. I think there is a real good chance that Ballage loses his job in a few weeks or at least splits time with another back. I think that back will be Gaskin. I don't think you can play him this week.

RB Handcuffs: Like I said above you need to get your handcuffs for your top RB's. If you don't need a plug and play this week, I would prioritize high end handcuffs over all of the guys listed above.

WR:

Zach Pascal (6.8%)- Hopefully you got him last week so you don't have to join in the frenzy to get him this week. I think he is in a great spot against the Dolphins no matter who the QB is. With T.Y. Hilton and Parris Campbell out this week, Pascal should get plenty of targets.

DeVante Parker (22.9%)- On the other side of the ball, Parker is primed for WR1 duties with Preston Williams out for the remainder of the year. Ryan Fitzpatrick has the ability to sling it and Parker should see plenty of looks.

A.J. Brown (15.1%)- I do like this passing attack and Brown has been on this list quite a bit. He had a great game last week and I think he is a solid plug and play this week.

Auden Tate (24.1%)- He has been averaging 11.4 PPR points over the last 6 weeks and is fresh off of a bye. The Ravens haven't been great against opposing WR and I like Tate's chances to get in the double digits again this week.

Diontae Johnson (17.8%)- He is more of a stash for me as the Steelers have a nice upcoming schedule, but I do think he is still a low end option if you need to play him this week. There are worse plays out there. The rookie has WR2 duties for this team and should see some nice volume in the upcoming weeks.

Kenny Stills (46.1%)- He is actually my 2nd favorite WR target this week but more than likely he will be hard to fit on your roster. If you have deep benches and can afford the spot, Stills is going to be the WR2 on a high powered offense until Will Fuller returns.

Josh Reynolds (0.9%)- He is about as far as I would go with WR streams this week if you are still scrambling for a play. We have seen him have success when one of the Ram's WR misses a game. Brandin Cooks may be out for a few more weeks.

Notable Adds: Jamison Crowder (54.7%), Josh Gordon (54%), Marquise Brown (59.8%). *Crowder would be my #1 add overall.

TE:

Jason Witten (50%)- He barely made the list. If Amari Cooper is out for this game, Witten will get just as many looks as he did last week. He caught 8 passes and led the team in targets. Do note that it is still a difficult matchup, but he will get some work.

O.J. Howard (42.2%)- This is if he plays, but I get it is gross. He has been a complete bust this year. The brightside of this week is he faces the Cardinals who have allowed the most fantasy points to the position. He has to have a big week at least once right?

Mike Gesicki (2.3%)- I will admit I will be starting him in one of my Dynasty leagues this week and I am completely fine with it. He will also get some solid targets with Preston Williams set to miss the year. He now has at least 40 yards in 3 of his last 4 games. The Colts have also allowed the 4th most fantasy points to opposing TE.

Vance McDonald (43.9%)- He had a nice week last week and it could continue again in week 10. The Steelers should need to throw the ball in this matchup and the Rams have allowed the 12th most fantasy points per game to the position.

Jack Doyle (35.5%)- With Hilton and Campbell set to miss this weeks game, Doyle should also benefit from amount of available targets. If Brissett misses this week, I actually think its good news for Doyle. Regardless they play the Dolphins.

DEF:

Indianapolis Colts (37.7%)

Baltimore Ravens (33.9%)

Los Angles Chargers (49%)

New York Giants (2.7%)
