Waiver Wire Finds Week 4

Just want to start this out with saying it was a crazy week in football. Starting on Thursday when Baker Mayfield changed the energy for the Browns and led them to victory (yes he will be on here). Then on Sunday we saw a huge upset by the Bills, to defeat the Vikings. Something I'm sure not many people predicted. Aaron Rodgers was upset by the Redskins who looked awful a week before and my Patriots played terribly. Just shows how unpredictable this game can be.
Now depending on how you have started out through these three weeks, you may need to value positions differently than you currently have been. By that I mean if you are weak at a specific position, I would prioritize my pickups around upgrading that position. Bye weeks begin and it is going to become vital for you to get the right guys in the right matchups. I am hoping this article will lay some of that out in order to make certain decisions easier. The byes for this upcoming week are the Carolina Panthers and the Washington Redskins. As always I am basing my percentage owned off of ESPN and will go by each position starting with the player I would prioritize the most. If you had a bad week 3 lets get the guys to help turns things around. If you had a great one, let the good times roll and continue upgrading your team. Either way, moves you make each week will help with the overall success of your team. I am writing this on Sunday night/Monday night so any players from the Monday night game that would be added to this list, will be posted at my twitter @tyler_bateman12 Now lets get started.
QB:
Andy Dalton (28.6%): This defense has been pretty good through these first few weeks. Dalton has been a solid QB streamer in all three weeks, with at least 2 TD's in every game this season. He gets to go up against the Falcons next week, which has given up 365 yards and 3 TD's on average the past 2 games. Now that was against Cam Newton and Drew Brees, but the way Dalton has been operating this season, I wouldn't be surprised if he came close to continuing that trend.
Jared Goff (61.9%): I'm not sure why he is available in just under 40% of leagues but that needs to change. I wont go too in depth with this one but I'll just say this is an offense where I want to own some of these guys on my roster. He has an amazing supporting cast and blew up for 354 yards and 3 TD's against the Chargers. He does have a difficult matchup this week against the Vikings. He is going to be a fantasy starter in most weeks and needs to be owned.
Baker Mayfield (6.8%): He came in last week and was able to complete the comeback and give the Browns their first win since 2016. He gifted the city of Cleveland with a win and free Budlight. Dilly Dilly Mayfield. His presence in this offense seemed to give life to all of the players around him. The Browns looked lost the entire time Taylor was in. He came in for the second half of the game and put up 201 yards. He has already been named the starter for next week against the Raiders, who I am not worried about one bit. They have given up at least 2 TD's or 250 plus yards a game this season. I think this team is fired up with the potential they have with Baker and can see this translating into another win next week.
Ryan Tannehill (7.8%): He had a pretty good game this Sunday as he scored the 5th most points among QBs. The Dolphins had 3 WR have at least 60 yards and a TD. They looked pretty good. Tannehill ended his day with 289 yards and 3 TD's against the Raiders. If you are in a deep league or a 2QB league, Tannehill could be a good streamer for you this week going up against the Patriots. Who just cant seem to play defense lately.
QBs to keep on your radar (Josh Rosen, Josh Allen, Joe Flacco, Case Keenum)
RB:
Austin Ekeler (54.4%): Here is another RB that needs more ownership. They have one of the easiest remaining schedules in the NFL. He continues to have a role in this offense and the Chargers like him a lot. If you own Melvin Gordon, you MUST roster Ekeler. He is one of the most valuable handcuffs in fantasy football and needs to be owned.
Marlon Mack (40.3%): If you are needing RB help and he is available, he is worth a stash until he gets healthy. No one has really emerged as a solid RB for this team while Mack has been injured. I think once he gets healthy, he takes over the job. He may be available in your league so it is worth a look. You could be getting a decent starting RB in a few weeks.
Javorius Allen (39.3%): He doesn't do much with his touches but when he gets them, he usually scores. They are fully committed on using him in the redzone. Head coach John Harbaugh commented on Allen today and said "I think Allen has really become one of the real legitimate players in this league...He's become a top-level player". So yeah, they like him a lot over there. He will continue to get goal line work as well as a few catches a game.
Chris Ivory (5.1%): If McCoy is out once again this week and you need a RB, Ivory should be available for you. Stepping up this week he ran for 56 yards and caught 3 passes for 70 yards. He will get the work in McCoy's absence. He did fairly well against a tough Vikings defense and this week they are going up against the Packers. If you are desperate for a RB this week he would be a decent add.
Some guys to look for that are over 60% owned. I would add these players over everyone I have listed above. Sony Michel (69.8%), Chris Carson (70.9%), Kerryon Johnson (69.8%)
WR:
Calvin Ridley (40.8%): Wow did he blow up last week. The rookie WR had 146 yards and 3 TD's. He looks to have came into the WR2 role that Sanu had last year. Sanu was a solid option last year, being able to get 5 catches or a TD in 10 of the 15 games he played in. If Ridley can go on a similar pace I think he can be even better than Sanu was last year. He has huge TD upside and after this game, I think Ryan will look for him even more.
Tyler Boyd (23.7%): Andy Dalton loves this guy. He has been having a great start of the year. With how this Bengals offense has been performing, Boyd could be in for a career year. He is Dalton's favorite target when under pressure, getting 41.2% of his throws to him. He had 132 yards and a TD on Sunday and looked great. With A.J. Green a little banged up he could be in for another huge game this week.
John Brown (47.9%): He has at least 86 yards or a TD in every game this season. He has big play ability and is a favorite target for Flacco. He needs to be owned more than his current ownership percentage. He is the real deal and has some solid matchups in the near future.
Antonio Callaway (16.5%): He fell victim to the poor play by Tyrod Taylor this past Thursday. He ended the game with just 4 catches for 20 yards. If you just looked at the stat line you would say "Why would I want someone who barely did a thing?" Its because he should have had a much better day. He was missed 3 seperate times by Taylor in which could have been long scores. With Mayfield in, Callaway has an opportunity to be something special. He is worth an add in all formats.
Mike Williams (33%): The huge WR has had a great start of the season. He has become the 3rd receiving option for the Chargers. He has two weeks with 81 yards and 3 touchdowns the past 2 games. He is a huge redzone threat for Rivers and will continue to get looks in the endzone all season long.
Geronimo Allison (34.3%): He has had at least 60 receiving yards in every game this season, with two TDs. He has played in at least 70% of snaps for the Packers all season long. With that much playing time with Aaron Rodgers, good things are bound to happen. He will have down days and days that he blows up, but he is worth an add because of his role in this offense.
TE:
Austin Hooper (25.3%): He has only had one good game this season which was in week 2. His two other games, he went for 3 catches for about 23 yards in each. He could be a solid streaming candidate this week with how badly the Bengals defend the TE.
Ricky Seals-Jones (9.6%): He has only 8 catches on the season, but this offense has not looked good. He did score last week on his lone catch of the day. The QB change with Josh Rosen could help boost his fantasy production. I wouldn't go out of my way to pick him up but he is someone to keep an eye on.
Note: If for some reason David Njoku was dropped in your league, he would be my number one TE add. He is available in about 36% of leagues. The switch to Baker Mayfield could benefit Njoku.
D/ST:
- Chargers (61%)
- Browns (54.7%)
- Packers (11.7%)
- Seahawks (7%)
